What kind of computer are you talking about? Is it a laptop? Who's the 
maker? What do you mean when you say the function keys don't work?


If you have a laptop then it could be that the function keys have been 
toggled to perform multimedia tasks. This shouldn't be changed by a 
Windows update though. Depending on the laptop maker, you can fix this 
several ways. Dell for example should have a hot key to toggle this, 
such as function-key+escape. HP laptops need to be changed in BIOS.
