Blind and Low Vision Participants Needed for Survey on Smartphone and Tablet
Usage!

 

Individuals who are blind or who have low vision are invited to participate
in a new, international study by the University of Montreal and the Munich
University of Applied Sciences that explores the use of mainstream
smartphone and tablet computers among users with vision loss.

 

The aim of this study is to better understand which mainstream devices
(smartphone or tablet computers, installable apps and accessibility features
are being used by individuals with vision loss, and what factors impact the
decision to use a specific device for a particular task. Participation
involves the completion of a confidential, online survey that should take no
more than 30-45 minutes of your time. The results from this survey will
assist rehabilitation professionals and assistive technology instructors, by
providing them with a better understanding of how to implement mainstream
devices into their training.

 

Participants must be aged 18 years or older, must have been using a
smartphone or tablet for at least three months, and must self-identify as
having a visual impairment (blind or low vision).

 

You will have the option at the end of the survey to include your name in a
draw for a $100 gift card to either the iTunes (Apple) or Google Play
stores, and will also have the option to request a summary sheet of the
results once the study is complete. 

 

This project has been approved by the ethics committee of the Centre de
recherche interdisciplinaire en readaptation (CRIR).

Participants aveugles et en basse vision pour sondage sur l’utilisation du
téléphone intelligent et de la tablette numérique!

 

Nous sommes un groupe de chercheurs de l’Université de Montréal et de
l’Université des sciences appliquées de Munich et nous invitons des
individus qui sont aveugles ou qui ont une basse vision à participer à une
nouvelle étude internationale qui a pour but d’explorer l’utilisation de
téléphones intelligents et de tablettes numériques par des utilisateurs en
perte de vision.

 

Le but de cette étude est de mieux comprendre quels appareils de technologie
courante (téléphones intelligents ou tablettes numériques), applications et
caractéristiques d’accessibilité sont utilisés par les gens avec une
déficience visuelle, et quels facteurs influencent la décision d’utiliser un
appareil précis pour une tâche particulière. Votre participation implique de
remplir un sondage en ligne confidentiel qui ne devrait pas prendre plus de
30 à 45 minutes de votre temps. Les résultats de ce sondage seront utiles
aux professionnels en réadaptation de même qu’aux instructeurs en
technologie d’assistance, en les aidant à améliorer l’entraînement visant à
intégrer l’utilisation de ces appareils de technologie courante.

 

Les participants doivent être âgés de 18 ans ou plus, être utilisateurs d’un
téléphone intelligent ou d’une tablette numérique depuis au moins trois mois
et s’auto-identifier comme ayant une déficience visuelle (cécité ou basse
vision).

 

A la fin du sondage vous aurez la possibilité d’inscrire votre nom pour un
tirage au sort pour gagner une carte cadeau de l’enseigne iTunes (Apple)
pour un montant de 100 dollars. Une fois l’étude terminée, vous aurez
également la possibilité de faire la demande des résultats de ce projet de
recherche.

 

Ce projet a été approuvé par le comité d’éthique du Centre de recherche
interdisciplinaire en réadaptation (CRIR) du Montréal métropolitain.
