Harry, mine is left on all day and only shut down as I pass by the office on route to bed. It is a newer machine with a solid state drive so is very quiet, and I suspect uses little in the way of electricity when not being tasked with heavy processing duties. I too have disliked the Sleep function and have gone through the Power Settings to ensure it never Hibernates or Sleeps. I only allow my computer to be on or off.

Thx, Albert

Subject: [VICUG-L] a huge decision to make, need some wisdom from windows users

Hi all,

Using Windows 10 pro, 1809, on a desktop computer.

Here's the situation. When I bring the computer out of sleep mode, my speech speaks 1 or 2 words, and then it dies, it's gone, so I have to do a reset.

My computer guy told me just to leave it on all day, so then it's ready for me, instantly, to do whatever work I need to do, at a moments notice, and that he does it, and it does not run up his power bill.

Do any of you leave your computer on all day till you go to bed at night?

Will leaving it on all day till I shut it off and go to bed at night run up my power bill?

Folks, I love sleep mode, it's revolutionary, instant on, it's ready to go in 4 seconds!, it's the greatest thing to happen to computers. I never thought I would live to see that kind of instant on technology on a computer!

It's fabulous when every second counts, and with what I do, it absolutely does!

Harry
