my favorite is a place called The Lucky Platter (Main street in
Evanston).  Inexpensive ecclectic menu.  There were many items I could
eat, and they were very helpful and adapting items.  Just tell the owners
(ken & eric) that you have the same restrictions as Ric Feifer.

There is also a bakery in Evanston that has a whole line of celiac
specials (the owner's daughter is celiac, i believe).  Ganache Bakery
708-864-4424.

I will try and think of more suggestions.
