Howard:
I am about ready to head out for a visit with our son and his family today,
so will try this when I get back later tonight or certainly sometime
tomorrow.
Will let you know how I do.
It's just strange that this started happening all of a sudden.
Have never seen this issue before.

Tom, I assume your winamp folder is in c:\users\owner\apdata\roaming\winamp
You may have to unhide this folder in folder settings.
In there, you will find two important files.
Winamp.m3u and winamp.m3u8.
The 8 file is a temporary playlist that winamp uses, and the m3u is the base
one.
Remove the m3u8 and give it a try.
Remove the m3u as well if that doesn't work.
No harm to be done.
By the way that is where the winamp.bm and winamp.bm8 bookmark files are
stored.

Eric:
I don't have any playlist (at least so far as I know), so what's the command
to clear the play list?
I guess I can't hurt anything if I try it, although I'm not sure where such
a play list would come from because I certainly didn't create one myself.

sounds like you need to clear the play list.
