Yes, the cable goes VCR->TV->Reciever. I thought I had tried
disconnecting it, but apparently I hadn't. When I tried again, the hum
went away as soon as I unplugged both sides of the cable from the tv to
the receiver.

I'm going to look for one of these the next time I'm near an electronics
shop. Any additional info on the product would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for solving my problem, I kept looking at something in the PC
causing it, never even thought about the CATV. (Which I had recently
plugged into the receiver, it wasn't before.)
