Hi all:
As my Apex got rewired for no apparent reason and when you now put your
hands on it, it humms, I'm thinking of grabbing another studio quality mic.
Its the Shure PG Alta 58 and I should be able to use it successfully with
my XLR-8 pin round cable, now that this cable works with my Apex. The
question is, due to its less then 600 ohm impedence, will it work? I
beleive its 150 ohms.
Keep in mind that I'm not trying to become 1 of those ESSB people, I've got
a really tight desk and need a hands free out of the way solution so can
place my loging laptop in front of me.
I've got the stand, gooseneck boom and foot switch but I want a really nice
no hassle mic that sounds good in my ears as well as in someones ears on
the other end. LOL Also want to be able to use it in my 2 contests per
year. I've got a cable made up for my Yaesu MD-1b8 mic and that's what I
might have to go back to. I think Heil to get a good mic, you gotta pay.
I dunno how many have heard me on the air but last week when I checked into
the 40M net, I was on the Apex 850 running barefoot at 150W. Most other
cases its been the Yaesu mic and for contests, the Heil Pro Micro Duel
which has the HC-6 element.
