In a hypotheical political up rising against Yahya Jammeh what will you do? Will you join the demonstrators in the streets? Will you be directing activities on the frontline? Will you be monitoring it from foreign journalist and/or TVs? Will you be debating the events online? Basically what do you think your role will be?
What did you do at the student demonstration in 2000? How relevant is the student demonstration and the 1981 attempted coup to Gambians political psychic? Do you think outside events are more learning tools than those 2 events?
In case you are in doubt what will Burama do - I will remain in USA monitoring over TV and/or other media houses or even venting my opinion on this very medium. This is my reason why I do not advocate for political upheaval - because I am too cowardly to fight. But I have other reasons. It usually produce more harm than good - I don't know whats up in Tunisia but Egypt and Libya are worst off so far. Too early to tell how the Venezuelan and Ukrainian events will end - so far its not promising. Equally many violent political actions of our own subregion never produced the desired result - Sierra Leone and Liberia come to mine. In fact Yahya in and Jawara out produced worst.
My argument is not to keep Yahya in power. All am for is to look at other options that me and you can participate with reasonable amount of risk. More importantly we can dictate and control the outcome. These are practical political processes that may take time but sure to land us where we want to be with far lesser cost.
The euphoric crowd of the struggle may be thinking that 'am shooting under the tent'; far from it - all I am for is realism, pragmatism and practicability. I have reservations over peddling hope as plan, blanket statements as facts and outsourcing the plan as the best alternative that one will not participate.
I hope to show a practical alternative to hopes and/or 'elections first' to those listening. Such a plan will not require concealing our ID and you or I or anyone else can be available to do anything deem by peers.
My take! What's yours?
