My kids live near San Fran. We just got back from many of our trips out there.

As good as my experience was in Phoenix, that's how frustrating the SF area continues to be. Our go-to place is Outback, but you can't eat there every day.

I used Find Me GF and Google like I did in Az. Meh.

I've relied on Red Robin before, but the one in San Bruno had no gf menu. I looked it up. All they knew was burger on lettuce with yucky fries. Even the manager. So I gave in and settled for that. Same lack of interest at Burgermeister in Daly City, where I've gone for years.

We also tried Elephant Bar, in Daly City, where all they had was a noodle soup and a couple of sides. Soup was good, but they loaded two large pieces of bread on the salad. That wasn't on the menu! The door runner said defensively that not everyone knows what gluten free means. That's AFTER I asked a manager if they did gf, when I walked in.

Tried Pacific Catch. You're ok if you want sushi or raw poke. Cooked, all they had was mahi mahi or chicken satay curry on rice. They would not make plain fish with rice.

BJ Brewhouse was more helpful, but the waiter has a grandson with food allergies.

The airport is just as bad. I've been gong to SF for over 15 years now. I'm definitely going to the wrong places.

It's the lack of caring that bugs me, even when there's a gf menu. I eat in dinky rural places in Maryland and get better service.

I usually cook when I visit my kids, to avoid going out, but in a three day visit, there was no time. I also ship or pack food, so I don't starve. Keep in mind there are little kids and we are eating around the events they're in, that we fly out to see.

I looked in to some of the cheaper places on FInd me gf, and would never trust the cross contamination. I have no idea how they even got on the app. Just having gf buns or pizza isn't enough for me.
