Firefox should work fine.  If, for whatever eason the latest version 
doesn't work, you can find olderversions of FF at

www.oldversion.com.

MSFT has been attempting to wean folks off older versions of the operatin 
system by not updating their versions of the browser.
Also, the newer versions of their browser has capabilities not available 
in older explorers so more and more websites and pages simply won't run 
under ie8 or ie9.
So, like it or not, XP and Vista are becoming obsolete not only from an 
updating perspective but also from a functionality one.
