Hi All,

My dinky little HP tablet decided it was time to retire, so I got a 2017
Newest NewVision 8" IPS Touch-Screen Tablet.

I tried going through first-time setup today. I powered up the tablet,
plugged in a USB keyboard, started Narrator, and prepared to sign in.
I've set up maybe half a dozen Windows 10 computers and probably another
half dozen running some version of Windows 8, so I'm very familiar with
the setup process. I don't remember the sequence of events exactly. I
know I'm supposed to answer a few basic questions (e.g., my time zoen),
provide Wi-Fi details, and either sign into my existing Microsoft
account or create a new one.

this tablet is different. What I've got here is a screen prompting me to
create an account. There doesn't seem to be any option to go back or to
log into an account that already exists. When I try hitting escape or
alt+f4, either nothing happens or I get back to the Narrator screen.
When I try just entering my user name and password, I get error messages
telling me to create a password hint and to come up with a shorter user
name. I suppose it's possible for this sign-in screen to be a security
measure for the tablet, not for Windows, but it seems redundant since I
need to sign into Windows anyway.

Though I haven't managed to sign in, I seem to be able to get to the
desktop, but because I haven't signed in, the tablet isn't letting me
explore settings or much else, so I'm not able to find the account
screen or set up a connection myself either by searching or by pressing
Start, arrowing up to Settings, etc.

I've done some googling. I'm only finding articles on skipping the
log-in screen--nothing specific about this tablet or this type of setup.
Has anyone here encountered this type of screen? If yes, what did you do?

Yes, I know I can call the Microsoft Disability answer desk. I probably
will eventually. I thought I'd ask here first. I called the answer desk
once, and while the person taking my call was polite, the problem didn't
get resolved even after an hour of trying different things, so I'm not
optimistic.

Thanks for any wisdom.

Ciao
