I have used Security Essentials for years and have never had a problem.
It does scan the first 40 to 60 percent very quickly, then it takes a
while longer for the remainder. Quick scans are normally adequate for
most things. YOu should not need a full scan very often. Once done, it
returns to the main screen. If you use your screen reader review mode
or cursor to look over the whole screen you find where it tells you
that no threats were found, or that threats were found and isolated.
The fuller your hard drive is, the slower it will finish.
