I agree with Virginia here - you need to make sure your daughter is
socialized as much as possible. Why? Because the more she learns how
to deal with other people and the good with the bad, the better off
she will be later in life. She will need to learn how to deal with
teasing and other issues.
How do I know? Because I'm a 56-year old CP whose parents didn't
isolate her from the real world, and my life is the better for it.
I've met too many disabled people who were so cosseted and spoilt as
children that they had a sense of entitlement when they grew up, and
it made life much more difficult.
It's natural to try to protect your child from hurts and taunts but
she will need to learn to deal with them and if you wait, it'll be
much harder later on.
