Tom,
Curious, what mode are you in. Is this a new thing, or always been
this way?
Perhaps you are overdriving? The manual says that if the power
meter exceeds the power level that is set, reduce micgain, or back off
the mic. If in a key down mode, backing off on the carrier level
would do the same.
The above may not be what you are experiencing, but maybe backing
things down will get the meter to behave better.
I'm not aware of a way to adjust the meter, and a quick look at the
manual didn't have anything jump out at me.
