In a recent posting of Feb'95 Spru-nik Press was a paragraph synopsis
of Dr. Joe Murray's statement at an American Celiac Society Meeting.
This regarded duodenal ulcers. My brother has recently been diagnosed
with both CD and duodenal ulcers. He is now on a gluten free diet and
he is being treated for the ulcers. He is taking antibiodics as well
as some other ulcer medication. Are ulcers in recently diagnosed celiac's
usually treated in the same way as ulcers in the general population?
Should the GF diet make a big difference. If he wasn't being treated
for the ulcers and only on a GF diet, would the ulcers be likely to go
way on their own? Since the doctor keeps telling him that he has a "mild"
case of CD, I tend not to have too much faith in him. Any general info
on this subject, or references I can look up, would be helpful.

Thanks,

Debra L. Boutin
