I don't think it's normal.

I would confirm this from another source before tinkering, but this is 
my understanding:


The rubber skirt around the knob will  come off if you get under it with 
something thin and pry it.

  Under the rubber, there is a hole in the knob that  will take a metric 
hex key (Allen wrench).

Maybe this has gotten loose.
