Steve:
It was great to work ya on 75, really strong tn as I said. Almost had a little panic attack before working a little DX as I explained how my XYL and I had to do a little emergency surgery.LOL
You see with the remote VFO attached, each time you flip on the rig, its at the bottom of the band. In the case of 75/80M, around 3.4 I think it is.
Well I had a brain cramp and forgot, checked my SWR and heard it was about 13/1 and began tuning the tuner, keep in mind that my plate and load controls were tuned up for the high part of the band so while trying to get my SWR down, guess I keyed too long and popped a fuse.
Not good practice with 6146s. Replaced it and she seemed to run excellent after that. Yup, on the vertical, I'm very happy with its performance and even though there's a mod out for it now that optimizes it for 40/16M, I dunno if I'll look into that and try it it because it does mess up the other bands.
Well I'm off to the pellows, I'm sure we'll cross paths over the holidays. Ham ham ham food and radio.LOL
