Hi all!

No this isn’t ham related, so it is marked OT.

It is quite blind related, as you can see, so I hope many here will join me in providing input. Remember there are no wrong answers.

Subject: [abcnz-blinddiscuss] Survey of Blind Adults

Hi everyone, I'm passing this on, on Amanda's behalf. I'm sure she'd appreciate it if you could circulate it to any other lists on which it might be appropriate.

Thanks.

Hi there

I am a Resource Teacher: Vision with BLENNZ, and am currently studying for my Post Graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching (Blind & Low Vision).

When looking at the way we teach blind and vision impaired students, I feel it is really important to consider the ‘voice’ of the blind community. For me it is a form of ‘cultural responsiveness’, in the same way that we listen to the voice of Māoridom when working with Māori students.

As part of my university studies, I am trying to better understand the ideas, skills, beliefs and practices that blind and vision impaired people see as important in relation to the education of this generation of students.

I would love to hear the opinions of any blind or vision impaired adults, particularly those whose vision loss dates back to their school days or before. It would be great to get as many responses as possible.

I have used Survey Monkey, which I believe is fully accessible. The survey comes in two parts (sorry, I can only get 10 questions at a time in the free version!). Please <https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8XJSBFW> click on this link to complete Part 1, and <https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8GRVH5P> click here for Part 2.

I will be analysing the results on Wednesday 26 August, 2015, so would appreciate it if you could respond before that date, please.

If you have any further questions, any problems accessing the survey or anything you would like to add, I can be contacted by email at <mailto:[log in to unmask]> [log in to unmask]

Survey data will be entirely anonymous unless you choose to include identifying information in some way.

Please note, this survey has nothing to do with BLENNZ, and is a part of my work as a student with Massey University.

Thank you very much for sharing your time and expertise.

Kind regards

Amanda Gough
