DS+A friend told me that she heard a radio news report that eating pasta
+increases seratonin levels in the brain. Is this possible? Does anyone
+know the source of this information? Thanks.
I don't know the source of this information but it has always been my
understanding that CARBOHYDRATES, and that includes, of course, pasta,
ARE in fact suppose to increase levels of seratonin. I know from
personal experience that you could pretty much set the calendar by my
cravings for carbos (in my case, starches as opposed to sugars). (PMS
time) - I eat all the rice, potato chips, baked potatoes, french fries,
and popcorn that I can get my hands on. I also crave these things more
during the winter months, and it has something to do with Seasonal
Affective Disorder (depression increase due to lack of light, in my
case).
