For one reason or other, I set up a new Windows computer about once a
year. My setup experience varies. Sometimes I get the speech guided
setup, where the computer talks to you and walks you through the
process. Sometimes I get silence, so I start Narrator myself and do the
setup. Occasionally, I turn on the computer, and Narrator speaks to me
without my having to do anything.
I don't think I've ever gone through the entire process using the speech
guided set up. At some point or other, Microsoft doesn't understand me,
or an option I select isn't recognized, so I have to turn on Narrator
and turn off the spoken setup to finish.
