Hi Jim,

I also have an iPhone SE running IOS 11.2 (I have not yet installed the 
latest 11.2 update) and toggling the Raise to Wake setting off solved 
the problem for me. Curious it did not work for you. Perhaps there's 
also yet another setting involved? I'll see if anything changes after I 
install the latest update.

My sighted wife has an identical iPhone SE and the setting was also 
switched on for her, so I guess it is a factory default. She switched it 
off, too. I can't imagine it's all that great for the battery to be 
constantly switching the screen on and off. It strikes me as a feature 
that the software engineers put in there just because they could.
