Hello Ana,

Let me see if I can help. I may not have all of the correct information so if I'm wrong, someone correct me. There are a couple of NVDA commands which will be helpful. I believe switching navigation modes is done by pressing num pad insert plus the tab key at the same time, and listening to what NVDA annouces. Another setting to keep in mind is that when you are using a website, press num pad insert plus the spacebar to go in and out of forms mode. I think NVDA already has sounds to confirm what mode you are in. For example, if you go into forms mode, NVDA makes a sound like a cash register. If you go out of forms mode, it makes a beep.

The Nv-access organization does have tutorials to learn NVDA, and to learn it with commonly used applications like Microsoft Word, and Excel. I am by no means an expert, but I am using NVDA to do web accessibility testing. The American Foundation for the Blind also has free tutorials where you can learn how to use NVDA. There are also YouTube videos somewhere you can also use to hear demonstrations of NVDA functions. NVDA also has the same help mode command as JAWS, num pad insert plus the number one on your regular computer keyboard.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks,
dan

I don't really know what they are or how they work together. For example, while composing this message, I used the number pad commands to move to a word, then pressed caps=lock+enter to move focus to this word so I could delete it. Things worked fine the first time, but not the second, and they're working sort of haphazardly. I suspect I've doing something to switch modes, but because I don't really understand them, I'm not sure what I'm doing.
