Hi all,
I am using windows 10, and jaws 17.0.1377, on a desktop.
I'm listening to a presentation about windows 10, from tech talk, with
Joseph Lee.
He is using NVDA, however, what I am going to say here, applys to all
screen readers, because I'm only talking about browser speed, and all I
can say is, wow, wow wow wow wow!!!!
He fired up Microsoft Edge, and typed an address in for a web page, and
it was fast, and so, even though Jaws 17 doesn't support Microsoft Edge
yet, for the heck of it, I thought I'd do a comparison.
I have AT&T, Elite which is DSL, up to 6 meg per second, the fastest DSL
they have. Anyway, I launched internet explorer, and typed in
www.freedomscientific.com
and as usual, internet explorer took a long time to load the page, 15
seconds.
Then, I closed IE, and launched Microsoft Edge, and control o does not
work, so, I pressed alt d for the address bar, and typed
www.freedomscientific.com
and pressed enter, and folks, I was blown away!!! That same page, loaded
in approximately 2 seconds, that's right, 2 seconds, I counted it!!!
All I can say is, I sure look forward to being able to use Microsoft
Edge, as soon as Jaws works with it!!!
To close Microsoft Edge, I just pressed alt f4 just like with IE.
I couldn't down arrow down a web page or anything like that, but the
page loading, is rocket fast!!!!
