I am just pointing out that, yes there are telecommuting jobs that are
usually call center type jobs, but I think there is a misunderstanding a
bit as well. Many jobs can just be done from home these days. I often
worked from home in my job. In fact, when we were on-call, we were
encouraged to work from home for the entire week.

I was an Oracle database administrator. A highly technical, computer
oriented job. It's not the kind of job you just walk into. A lot of
highly technical computer jobs, like systems administration, and such, can
be done from home, but they are not designed to be done from home, they
just happen to lend themselves to not having to be physically located at
the same place as others.
