Ana,
Thanks so much for making us aware of this TTS engine. It's either brand
new or they've not done much to alert us as to the availability of these
voices.
I'm actually quite impressed with what little I've heard so far. I
downloaded the U.S. English male voice that they call John. It reminds
me somewhat of a Capella's Ryan voice, but a little less nasal. While
using the voices in demo Mode, Inoetics does something very unusual in
that ia plays this somewhat catching but annoying background music while
the voice is speaking, presumably to make it just irritating enough that
you'll want to purchase the voices sooner rather than later. Even with
the music, I'm able to mostly tune it out and focus on the speech, at
least while I continue to evaluate it. The installer was initially
blocked by Windows 10's smart screen but, by choosing "more info", I was
able to choose "run anyway" to run the installer. Once completed, the
program asks for a license number but skipping this step places the
voices into demo mode. I am uncertain as to whether it functions
indefinitely, with the background music being an incentive to purchase a
license, or whether there's a time limit as there is for other TTS voices.
Using it with NVDA on my system was quite nice. I'm running Windows 10
Pro with 8 GB of RAM on a Dell Optiplex dual core, 2.9 GHz system. In
other words, it certainly doesn't crawl but it's no speed demon. Even
with those specs, it seemed to run nicely with NVDA 2016.4, being
reasonably responsive when using arrow keys to navigate and providing a
fairly pleasant voice. So far, I like what I'm hearing but I'll need to
work with it more before I decide on whether or not to purchase a license.
