I haven't run these on Windows in quite a while, but you might try Libre
Office or Open Office. I think they'll handle Excel files OK, but I
don't know how accessible they are on Windows.
I guess you could also try uploading them to Google Drive and seeing if
you can work with them on the web with Google Docs.
Sorry I can't be of much help, but I just use Windows at work where we
all use Office.
