Thanks to Ana, Duane, and David for your responses.  Ana's suggestion of 
turning a reply into a forward works really well, and I'm relieved that 
I now have a workaround. David, I find it interesting that you're having 
the same issues using NVDA.  Could it be that the way Thunderbird 
displays headers has changed?  David, if you could, please try editing a 
forwarded message in Thunderbird with Window-Eyes.  I'll be interested 
to see what happens with that.
