Hi All,
I know this is somewhat off topic, but I'm posting here because I'm not
sure where to start. Basically, I'm hoping for recommendations on large
flatbed scanners.
I'd like to buy a flatbed scanner that is 8.5X14 to 11X17 (i.e.,
anywhere from legal size to ledger size). What I have now is a Brother
four-in-one, which I like, but it's scanner surface is 9X12, which is
too small for most of my textbooks.
So today I went to Office Depot, Office Max, and Best Buy. I found a
Brother and an HP four-in-one. Neither device had physical controls.
Both are huge machines--maybe a foot deep, 2 feet long, and 1.5 feet
high--like an old home-office photocopier. If I bought one of them, I
would most likely get rid of my current machine, but I'm hesitant
because my current machine has physical controls so there are a few
things I can do independently (e.g., make a photocopy) by counting key
presses. If the larger machine were less huge, I would keep using my
current four-in-one and pull out the big guy only when I needed to scan
a book.
I asked the different sales associates about units that were scanner
only. One told me that Visioneer makes larger units that were scan only,
but they were only available on the store website. I just visited the
Office Depot/Max website, and while I did find several Visioneer models,
I'm having trouble finding useful information, like maximum media size.
Then I tried just Googling Visioneer, and the information I find seems
to be about five years old, so I'm not even sure which models to target.
Does anyone have any recommendations for larger flatbed scanners,
preferably units that are scanner only. If they're four-in-ones, I'd
rather have a unit with physical buttons.
Thanks.
Ciao
