Lisa,

When I pop a CD into my Windows 8 machine, Power DVD usually comes up,
so I press the context key to play, etc. sometimes Windows Media Player
comes on, so I must set one then the other as my default player. If
nothing comes up, I go into this PC, arrow to the CD/DVD drive, press
the context key, and choose the player I want to use.

You can turn on Auto Play. I don't have mine on, so I don't know if
there are any differences from previous versions. The easiest way to
find Autoplay settings is to tap the Start button to get into the search
box and type "autopl" without the quotes. When the entire word
"autoplay" shows up (you may need to press down-arrow once first), just
press enter on it and tab through the options. There isn't a Save
button, so the dialog probably just remembers your settings.

Hope this helps.

Ciao
