I, though having used Windows since 1994, still occasionally drop into dos
because if I don't know how to do it under windows, I usually do under dos.

I'm from a programming environment going back to 1969, magnetic drums and
cards, huge one-inch wide reels of tape trundled around on huge trolleys.
The EDS80 disk pack was the best thing since sliced bread!!  Waugh! 20Gb of
storage on one of those packs, wonderful!

I started work in 1973 on mainframes but had training in assembler code but
soon migrated to Cobol, in those days Cobol68.

I still have a dos machine now running Dos V6.22 and 4Dos over the top can't
remember the version.

I used to love writing batch files for all kinds of things in 4Dos, much
more user-friendly and flexible than straight Dos.

Mind you, I have yet to migrate to Windows7, being on XP Home on both laptop
and desktop machines, these are now over five years old and creeking
somewhat, I really must change soon before this lot goes off bang or maybe
fails in some other way.
