If you worked the Phillipines near your sunset, as I think you did, you 
worked it via the long path, with the signal coming from the southeast. In 
winter, to China, Japan and southeast Asia, the long path predominates on 
the lower frequencies.

You might want to check 30 meters.  It seems some CW ops are hanging around
after the contest, and it's open both east and west now.  I just worked the
Philippines and Corsica.
