Don,

Two things to check:  RF gain (outer knob  around the volume control:, 
or wrong antenna selected.   A long press on the pre amp / antenna 
button will switch between ant 1 and ant 2.   Upper left of the radio, 
second button down on left side.  Just under the PF  A key.  Not sure a 
VFO reset (partial reset)  affects the antenna selection.  A full reset 
does.


If it is the RF gain, any sort of reset won't  return the knob to   the 
correct position  Knob should be full clock wise for full gain.
