I'm like a 5 year old on Christmas day today! My TS-590S arrived back from
the Kenwood Service Center East this afternoon. I unboxed it and put it up
on the bench, connected everything up. Well, everything except for the power
leads to the power supply. My wife wasn't home, and I didn't know which was
the positive and which was the negative lead. They seemed to be identical.
Sometimes one is slightly larger gage wire than the other, but not this
time. So, I used Facetime on my iPhone to call a ham buddy of mine and asked
him to tell me which was the red and which was the black lead. With a little
maneuvering of the iPhone camera, he was able to identify the two power
leads for me, and I was good to go. The TS-590S sounds great, and seems to
work perfectly. I logged onto the Kentucky Phone Net on 3816 tonight, and
while I didn't have the loudest signal on the net, they were able to hear me
pretty much Q5. So, my Double Bazooka in the attic seems to be working too.
Tomorrow I'm going to try to work some stations on other bands, but right
now, I seem to have an SWR of well below 2 to 1 on all bands, which is
really hard to believe, but that is what the rig's SWR meter is telling me.

Ron, K8HSY
