Harry,
To put file explorer in list view, press Windows+e, and while no icon
has focus, press the context key (or shift+f10). Down-arrow through the
options. View is the first submenu, and List is in there.
To put an icon on the desktop, find the app by arrowing around in All
Apps or by pressing Start and searching for it. Once you find the app
icon, press the Context key, and press enter on Open Location or
something like that. Then press the context key again, and go into the
Send To submenu, pressing enter on Desktop. This only works on desktop
apps, not on modern apps.
