Hi all,
Well folks, this is weird, how Apple lets us empty the trash from an external drive.
Once you delete an item from an external drive, it’s not deleted.
Here’s how to make sure that an item on an external drive has been deleted, for sure.
1. Find the file on the external drive that you want to delete.
2. Now, press command delete, and it will say, “move to trash.”
3. Now, go to the desktop with control option shift d.
4. Now, right arrow to the external drive, but don’t open it.
5. Now, press control option d for dock.
6. Now, right arrow over to, or, try pressing t for trash.
7. Now, press control option shift m for the context menu.
8. Now, down arrow to empty trash, and press up and down arrows.
Now, your trash has been deleted, from the Mac, and, from the external drive as well.
This is from the book Learning to use the Mac.
Harry
