I, too, have more than a few weird issues with Jaws 17 and Thunderbird.
Jaws does not read all screen objects as I tab to them. Jaws also seems
to often stop talking for a length of time or run very slowly. If a new
message arrives in my Inbox while I am writing or editing a message,
these behaviors are exacerbated even further. For example, it just
happened and Jaws seemed to lose its place in the message text. Tabbing
back to the Subject field and then back to the text seems to reset
things. I, too, have had difficulty editing a forwarded message.
Sometimes I have resorted to copy and pasting the entire message text
into Notepad, removing the unwanted message header and replacing the
message text. Kind of old school and kludgey, but it seems to work.

Cheers,

Duane
