Subject: The new JAWS Training Bundle
Hello,
I wanted to take just a moment to make sure you were aware that
the new JAWS
Training Bundle is now available from Freedom Scientific. It
provides over
50 hours of quality one-on-one style JAWS training in audio
format at a cost
of only $15 per hour.
Some of the challenges we know many state agencies face in
regards to JAWS
training are:
. Cost: One on one training can cost anywhere from $50
to $125 per
hour.
. Availability: It may be difficult to find quality one
on one
trainers in many areas.
. Metrics: It may be difficult to track measurable
progress for
most clients.
The training bundle can help:
. Cost: Only $15 per hour for training the client can
keep for
life!
. Availability: Training is available anywhere,
anytime.
. Metrics: Short optional progress exams are provided
to track
client progress with the training. Results can even be emailed
to a
counselor!
The training starts at the very basics of using a computer with
JAWS and
covers topics such as:
. Using the computer with a keyboard rather than a
mouse
. Introduction to using Microsoft Windows including:
navigating
menus, dialog boxes, dialog box controls, etc.
. Specific training for both Windows 7 and Windows 8
. Reading and editing text with JAWS
. Saving and opening files
. Getting help with JAWS
. Extensive training on using JAWS to navigate web
pages
. Using the Freedom Scientific Webinars for continued
learning
. Extensive training on Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013
including:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
. A variety of other topics
It is designed to provide a strong foundation of JAWS and
computer skills
that can then be supplemented with one on one training at a local
level for
any remaining specific vocational or independent living goals.
It may also
serve as refresher training for clients who previously received
JAWS
training but have forgotten or not used it.
The training is in the popular DAISY audio format which allows
clients to
easily move to different sections and place bookmarks for further
study. It
is provided on SD card and can be used on today's popular
hardware DAISY
players such as the Victor Reader Stream.
It can even be purchased in combination with a Victor Reader
Stream or
PlexTalk Pocket at a savings of over $100 off the retail cost.
There is much more information about the training at the below
web page
along with a detailed outline of topics covered and a 20 minute
sample audio
excerpt from the training. You can also learn more about the
progress exams
which provide a great way to track the progress of a client.

Keep in mind that as I am a Certified Vision Rehabilitation
Therapist, this
training was designed with a holistic approach to the computer
being a tool
used in the overall rehabilitation plan for an individual.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like me to
contact
other individuals from your agency with this information.
Respectfully,
Ryan Jones, CVRT
