Matt,
That's the nice thing about using something like the Signal Link USb
interface, since it has a built in sound card there is no conflict
between the interfaces sound card and the sound card on the pc.
I know John from this list uses MixW software for digital modes, but it
didn't work for me. I use MMTTY for RTTY, but it didn't work for him.
Go figure.
Another option for PSK is digipan.
There are several articles on use of digital modes by the blind at:

There are usually a couple of ways to do something, but maybe the above
articles will keep you from trying to re-invent the wheel.
