A good trick for sure. I often work a group with a station a mile away on 40
meters. I back the rf gain down a bit, and shorten the a g c delay just enough
so the receiver doesn't take quite as long to recover. That way, can hear the
weak sigs.
On c w, a good trick is to disable the rf gain altogetherif that feature is
available.
