Nope the only thing that talks is the S-9, freq and mode or freq and mode 
plus the RX and TX freqs during split.
I remembered the settings after my XYL's help and if let's say your in DNR 
mode, you'll hear when you rotate the select knob. When your in Contour 
mode, you'll hear the difference when you rotate the select knob etc. When 
your back out of the DSP selections, rotating the select knob jumps up or 
down a frequency so you'll hear that too and can check the freq with the F 
CS combo.
I was very fond of the FT-450 I had and ran it as an HF remote. I'd 
certainly buy another 1 for a compact/FD rig.
