Jim:

The darn = signs really got in the way of deciphering your reply, but let me
add some observations in response to what you have suggested.

First, I should have pointed out in my original note that the outdoor
antenna performs just as expected on "receive". In other words, for
example, I can easily receive the National Weather Service Office
transmitter from Grand Rapids, Michigan (about 55 miles south of my house,
with no problem. I typically use that NWR transmitter and others to
initially diagnose things if I think I have some sort of an antenna problem.

I don't have a VHF dummy load available, but do have a magmount antenna that
I use for indoor operation when severe weather threatens. I tried that
antenna, and had the same problem. It occurred both on 2 meters and 440.

On the one hand, this indicates to me that my outdoor antenna may be ok, but
now I am more confused than ever about what the issue might be.

I can't imagine it would be with my RS35 power supply, since it does quite
well for me on HF with my TS590.

I suppose trying another power supply might help, but as I said before, I'm
trying to avoid having to tear apart the entire shack here! (smile)
