Hi Tom,
I just tried my 7QP log to be sure. Window-Eyes uses the keypad keys
to move the actual mouse around. Pressing home on the keypad moves
the actual mouse pointer to the top left of the screen. Pressing the
keypad down arrow moves the mouse pointer down line by line. Seven
presses of the down arrow lands me on the all button and I left click
it using another key on the keypad. That puts the logging program in
the mode for all QSO's. Next I press the keypad home key again to
move to the upper left corner and keypad arro down to the first QSO,
which happens to be #153. When I left click that first QSO I am in
the list of QSO's. I can then use the standard arrow keys to arrow
down QSO by QSO or the standard END key to move to the bottom or QSO
#1, or the standard HOME key again to move back to the top or QSO
#153. If I find a log entry that needs correction, I press TAB once
to land on edit and press enter. I can then tab through the various
fields and make corrections. When I'm satisfied, I press
ENTER. Unfortunately that puts me back in the call edit box for a
new QSO entry, so I have to again press HOME to get to the top and
keypad arrow down to the log enteries and press enter to get back in
the list. If instead of editing an entry, I want to delete it,
pressing TAB twice instead of once puts me on delete and pressing
ENTER on that deletes the entry and returns me to the call edit box
for a new QSO.
I can't believe JAWS doesn't do something very similar to what I do
with Window-Eyes. There is a Window-Eyes cursor that moves what is
read without moving the mouse pointer, but I am talking about the
actual mouse pointer being moved by using the keypad arrow keys. If
the JAWS cursor is like the Window-Eyes cursor, it doesn't move the
mouse pointer so it wouldn't put it on the "all" button and clicking
wouldn't work. The actual mouse pointer has to be on the "all" button.
The alternative method of getting the mouse pointer to the all button
that I mentioned earlier is to move the mouse to the upper left and
use the mouse search function to find "all". When I do this with the
Window-Eyes mouse search function, it first lands on the "all" in the
word "recall" and next on the "all" button that I am trying to
reach. Again left clicking the mouse puts the software in all QSO mode.
I hope I have been clear enough. One of the problems we professors
often have is that we over explain. I hope I haven't done that!
