ok,
heres a breakdown of some of the noise I get here.

powerline buzz. happens all across HF and has even been heard on 6 mters. Intensity varies as to other conditions (except on 80 and 160 where it is heard 24/7.

The Tivo is an older model 2511 using a first generation Sata drive. It produces a lot of birdies starting just below the 20 meter band. these birdies appear at random points up the rf spectrum from there and are quite strong throughout the 10 meter band. They are also seen on 6 meters and there are several of them on 2 meters. I know it is the source as I have shut it down once and tried to see if the birdies disappeared. they did. however, as the unit is my room mates, I don't have control of when it is on or not.

now, there is another broadband noise source (its either a grow light or a plasma tv). it happens only in the evenings after about 8 pm and disappears sometime after 2 AM. Its loudest in 80 meters but is heard all over HF.

There are other noises too, but they don't appear often and never last long.

hope this helps.
