I hav an 897d and i still would not, that is not recommend it for a 
blind person.  Even with the qsyer, it is a strange radio.  No way can 
you rely on counting the clicks in the menu mode, as if you paus over a 
second or so, it drops you out and you have no clue.  No beeps or 
anything to tell you where you are.  Just not a blind friendly radio. 
Only reason I have one is I won it.
