Lloyd:

Sorry I missed you for Field Day on Saturday night.

Despite the fact that I was limited to 40 meters, I had fun anyway. The
band seemed to be in pretty good shape, given summer season conditions.

Your first message got through, but it didn't get here until this morning. I
don't know whether this is a sign that EarthLink is bouncing some of the
Blind-hams messages or saying they can't be delivered, or not.
I'm glad you had fun on Field Day. I got on from home and made about 75
QSOs, mostly on Saturday night.

Subject: Field Day Report From KB8TYJ

                              Hello, all.

I'm re-sending this, because the internet connection out here at the RV camp
site is flaky, and I don't know if it went through the first time.

If it did, sorry for the duplicate post.

In spite of my antenna issue as described earlier, it was a good field day
here.

I did a 1B operation.

Was probably on for about 9 hours from yesterday afternoon through late
yesterday evening, and then did another roughly 5 hours today.

Due to my antenna situation, I was limited to 40 meters, which meant that
today was quite a bit slower than yesterday, due to an increasing number of
dupes. I did a combination of S and P, and C Q ing, but definitely more c q
ing when all was said and done.

Anyway, I ultimately put 372 qsos in the log. 332 of them were CW, and 40
were phone.

All and all, it was a lot of fun, even though I was disappointed that I
could not operate on other bands.

I actually did try 15 meters, but I was having trouble with my Winkeyer on
that band. . As soon as I would try to transmit, I lost the port connection
to the winkeyer, which to me is a sure sign of RF getting into the system.
So, I didn't risk 15 meters or other bands.

Now, my next task is to see if I can do something different with my Alpha
Delta DXCC out here at the RV camp site. The antenna works great on 40
meters, but seems basically unusable on the higher bands-I think because of
the fact of the folded dipole configuration that I described the other day.

Will be interested to seee how others did with FD.
