Is the vertical mounted on the ground? If so, on 10 meters you pretty well
got what you got. Keep in mind though too propagation could have just been 1
way, it may have just been conditions that were better one way from another.
Don't just take your results from today as a sign there's a problem.
Sometimes conditions are like that. I can say though having used many
antennas over the years, ground mounted on 10 meters, will work, but it's
not going to be a dream setup since it uses the lowest part of the antenna
for 10 meters.

Ed, using the great JJ Radio software the SWR field still says 1.0 while tr=
ansmitting so I think I will need to get a pair of eyeballs to help measure=
it with a meter sometime. My XYL says we may be able to put up a dipole in=
the spring. After I posted my message I had a nice QSO with "Skippy" from =
Albuquerque New Mexico and he gave me a much better result. I'll report bac=
k if I can get anyone with a SWR meter to help out.
Thanks
Frank

Frank, what is the s w r on your vertical If it is high the xcvr will cut=20
power back big time. a better ant or an amplifier would help also. g l 73
