MSE works just fine.  I have never had issues with it except for the one
time I forgot to keep it up to date.  That was a big oops partly because the
virus that I ended up with was able to turn MSE off.  That was years ago
though, and MSE is not a problem.

MSSE has received very poor reviews in the tech journals. You get what you
pay for. Stay away from Norton. Not only is it inaccessible, but it misses a
lot of things. I got enough Trojans to run a horse race. I have McAfee,
which is also used by my employer. It isn't the greatest for accessibility,
but most of the items are of the set and forget variety. So far, in 3 years,
it has kept my machine clean.
