last I heard, the VS series of voice chips was out of primary production. There are some 3rd party clones being made that work though. I could be wrong on this though. The last kenwood I had years ago used the VS-1 chip and I can no longer purchase that one from kenwood. That doesn't matter now as I use the TS-480 with the VGS series chip installed.

It would be nice thug, if I could find a firmware chip that could be programmed to mimic all the functions of the VGS-1, only read the menu items, and some of the other functions on demand.
