Thanks, Jordan.

If I can't get to it in the optional updates under windows update, I'll try
this link.

Here you go.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

It works great with Jaws, and it will auto update the Virus definitions.
Just make sure you go into the Settings Tab to turn that on. Also, setting
it up to auto scan your system for viruses isn't a bad idea. I have my
computer scanning and updating the definitions at 1:00P.M. and Noon
respectfully.

Jordan:

I have three questions here:

1. Is MSE accessible with Jaws?

2. Where exactly would I go on the Microsoft web site to get it?

And

3. Doesn't the program automatically update virus definitions? This is a
feature that I really would like to have. I'd simply rather be proactive
rather than reactive.

MSE works just fine. I have never had issues with it except for the one
time I forgot to keep it up to date. That was a big oops partly because the
virus that I ended up with was able to turn MSE off. That was years ago
though, and MSE is not a problem.

MSSE has received very poor reviews in the tech journals. You get what you
pay for. Stay away from Norton. Not only is it inaccessible, but it misses a
lot of things. I got enough Trojans to run a horse race. I have McAfee,
which is also used by my employer. It isn't the greatest for accessibility,
but most of the items are of the set and forget variety. So far, in 3 years,
it has kept my machine clean.
