As regards the menus on the K3, JJRadio makes them accessible. It
especially works well with a braille display, but will work with speech as
well. JJRadio does not support the KX3 at this time, although it should
work to some extent to read frequency and the like.

Correct. I have the KX3 which I ran barefoot at 12 Watts for a year or so
when I first bought it. I got another Worked All States with the KX3 just to
see if I could do it at 12 Watts. Now I also have the external KXPA100
amplifier that brings it up to 100 Watts. Both the KX3 and the KXPA100 have
an optional internal antenna tuner.

By the way, the Hampod is great but I do not use one with the KX3. All of
the knobs and buttons have CW feedback. The menu system for setting various
options is not accessible with the CW feedback but all those options can be
read or set using the Elecraft KX3 software on your PC. However, it's not
trivial. You need to read and understand the CAT interface commands and some
options require converting various bit strings to/from binary to base 10.

Elecraft is indeed always at Dayton. And they will have everything there and
lots of their staff to answer questions. I wanted to put my hands on the
gear before I bought it. The years I've gone to Dayton, I spent a lot of
time at the Elecraft booth.

Mike,

The hampod works with several Elecraft rigs including the KX3 and the K3. I
assume you are aware that the KX3 is, by itself, a QRP rig that runs up to
12 watts, although you can get an external amp for it which I think is what
Jim is doing. I have a K3 and am a big fan of Elecraft gear. Most of the
time, Elecraft radios must be bought directly from Elecraft in California,
but if you're going to Dayton, you'll certainly be able to see and buy them
there. But be advised, there will likely be a long line at their booth. Good
luck and 73. Lou WA3MIX Lou Kolb Voice-over Artist:
